Temporary Local Rule

Temporary Local Rule: effective from Saturday July 29th.

Cleaning Ball/Embedded Ball

A ball lying through the green may be lifted and cleaned without penalty. The ball must be replaced.

Note:

1. The position of the ball must be marked before it is lifted under this Local Rule (Rule 20-1).

2. The ball must be replaced on the same spot at which it had come to rest.

3. A ball that is embedded may be lifted, cleaned and replaced, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. A ball is “embedded” when it is in its own pitch-mark and part of the ball is below the level of the ground. A ball does not necessarily have to touch the soil to be embedded (e.g., grass, loose impediments and the like may intervene between the ball and the soil).

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE:

Match play – Loss of hole; Stroke play – Two strokes.
