Member Subscriptions

Published on 1st August 2017 in Golf News

The sending of the annual subscription notices commenced on Tuesday evening, and by Wednesday morning, all members should have received their invoices. Please find below some correspondence regarding the renewal notices from our President, Mr Ross Taylor, as well as some information on the option of using the progressive payment plan.

In previous years, on occasion, the subscription renewal notice has ended up in peoples junk or spam folders. If you haven’t seen your renewal notice, please check these folders, or let us know and we will furnish you with a new one.

You will note that your Committee has resolved to limit the increase the annual subscription to 5% this year. We have needed to increase rates in recent years by 10% to counter the revenue effect of the continuing fall in membership numbers and there is a risk that this will happen again this year. Subscription revenues have been increasing by only 3% with 10% rate increases. But with a concerted effort to increase new membership and green fee numbers we are hopeful that the potential revenue shortfall can be overcome.

It is the overall goal of the committee to keep subscriptions at a point that encourages retention and attraction of members, and keeps the overall cost of being a member at Flinders competitive.
For 5, 6, or 7 day members who wish to pay their subscription by utilising the progressive payment plan, the Committee has increased to the number of installments to 6, and reduced the administration fee per transaction. Details can be found via the link below.

Committee have also put considerable time into ensuring that the balance is right between flexible and full membership. As such, there has been an increase in the points allocated with flexible membership to allow those members to play additional rounds of golf, however the cost of the points component of this category of membership will increase in accordance with the overall subscription increase.

Current members will also be pleased to note that the aged based membership pricing structure has been altered significantly to not only encourage young family members, but all young people to become part of our Club. One of the challenges the industry is facing at present is attracting younger members to the game and one of the reasons that this has become a challenge is the often expensive, sometimes prohibitive, costs involved in starting out.

Your Committee, in an effort to foster more junior members within the is pleased to announce that for the 2017/18 year, the new aged based members will have the following subscription fees, plus affiliation fees and a food levy:

CATEGORY OF MEMBERSHIP SUBS
Age based 12-17 If not related to a member $100.00

Kind Regards,

Ross Taylor
President
