Team Flinders

As members would be aware, there has been a few changes in our staff over the last few months. So we felt it timely to give you an update on changes.

Alison Wheeler has been with us in the finance role now for just on two months and has already had a significant impact in reviewing the day to day procedures, streamlining the administration and accounts side of the business.

From all reports, Ricky Sing is enjoying life over in West Gippsland, and what comes with retirement, which may or may not include the occasional sleep in!

More recently, there have been some changes in the Hospitality department as well. Andrew Barrett, or Baz as he is known, has been with us for a tick over three months now, and has made some significant changes to the day to day operation of our Hospitality department, which continues to improve on a daily basis.

Aside from a friendly, familiar face in the hospitality department on a regular basis, Baz brings with him a wealth of experience in all facets of Hospitality, and is excited about continual improvement.  Some of the things he has been working on recently include a focus on consistency from a service and presentation point of view, as well as the implementation of a streamlined ordering and stock control system, which have been high on the list of priorities.  In addition to the back of house systems and procedures, one of the ongoing jobs is to continue to enhance the members and guest experience, and Baz, with the support of the hospitality team are continually working on providing excellent member and guest service, and fare, in an environment suited to what is expected here at Flinders.

And finally, as members would be aware Chef Alison, finished up her time here at Flinders in the last couple of weeks. Alison had been exploring the opportunity to take on a new role at a restaurant in Mornington for some time prior to her departure, several months in fact, and she leaves with our best wishes and thanks. Her departure gives us, and Chef Jesse, who is back from his European trip, a wonderful opportunity to move from a quick, easy, processed menu to a handmade, fresh, healthy menu which will still rotate, and continue to have something for everyone.

In addition to welcoming Jesse back from his overseas trip, we welcome two highly experienced Chefs to our team.  Both Jacquie and Gabbie have had a great deal of experience in both banquets and a la carte cooking, and are very excited about the opportunity to be here.  They will both play a significant role in mentoring Jesse, as he takes this next step in his career.  Our hospitality team, led by Baz, Jesse and Di, along with their team of new, enthusiastic and vibrant hospitality staff are working very hard to ensure the transition from old to new is as seamless as it can be, with minimal disruption to members and guests.

We are all looking forward to the upcoming busy season, and we all hope to see you enjoying all that the club has to offer over the coming months.
