THIS SIMPLE PROCESS IS OUTLINED IN THE ARTICLE BELOW.
Golf Australia News: Registration soon required to check your handicap
Members are reminded that Golf Australia have announced an upcoming change to the way you sign in to view your handicap.
Golf Australia have announced that that from September 4, 2018 you will be required to register with your email before to check your handicap.
Golf Australia CEO Stephen Pitt outlined the changes in a letter posted at Golf Australia. Follow this link for instructions on how to sign up and FAQs. The letter from Stephen Pitt is also added below.
Golfers will be required to fill in a short registration form with details including an email address.
There are also some workarounds for those wanting access who don’t have an email address, and an opt-out options for those not wanting any commercial marketing emails.
Again, the new registration log-in requirement will start on September 4, 2018.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
How to register. The first time you use the handicapping service on www.golf.org.au from Tuesday 4 September you will automatically be presented with a short on-line form that you will need to enter a few details into (including your email address).
Who can register. There will be no restrictions on who can register to use the handicapping service on www.golf.org.au.
Remaining continually logged-in. You will be able to avoid having to log-in each time you want to view your handicap on the same device – once you have logged-in to the handicap-view pages, you will be able to remain logged-in on that device into the future (unless its security or ‘cookie’ settings are at a very high level).
Accessing multiple handicap records. Once logged-in to www.golf.org.au under your new personal log-in, you will be able to view the handicap history of any golfer you know the GOLF Link number of, without needing their email address.

Dear All,
I am writing to let you know that from Tuesday 4 September all golfers and officials will need to log-in to view handicaps and handicap histories on www.golf.org.au.
The new log-in process will involve users registering their email address with Golf Australia (GA). Once logged-in, all users of www.golf.org.au will have full access to the same range of world-standard handicapping functionality they currently experience. This includes a person being able to view the handicap history of any golfer they know the GOLF Link number of. Having wide access to handicap records remains a key feature of the handicapping service GA provides to all officials and golfers, and it is an important safeguard against handicap manipulation.
Asking users to log-in to an internet service has become a standard operating practice. By moving in this direction GA will be able to develop and maintain a rich source of data to generate insights that will be critical to growing the industry’s capacity to support golf clubs and their businesses. It will also be used to communicate important information and updates, and to develop innovative ways to improve the golf experience of individual players. (This source of data will be strictly separate to any personal member data provided directly by clubs to GA to enable the operation of GOLF Link. Member data provided directly by clubs is closely protected by data privacy legislation and may not be used by GA for the above purposes.)
Some other important elements of this new process are:
• There will be a workaround available to people who do not have an email address.
• There will be no restrictions on who can register to use the handicapping service on www.golf.org.au.
• Any individual who registers will have the choice to opt out of receiving any commercial marketing.
• The new log-in process will only apply when using www.golf.org.au to access handicap or score history information. Nothing will change for the experience of a member when they remain within their club software system.
• GA’s policy on data protection can be viewed at – www.golf.org.au/privacypolicy.
• If a user wishes, they will be able to remain continually logged-in to avoid having to enter their password every time they start a new viewing session.
