Flinders Win!
Published on 24th February 2019 in Local and Member News, Social NewsLast issue we reported that we had won the right to host a home semi final against Rosebud Country Club on February 23rd. Match has been played and WON!!!
The green was in beautiful condition thanks to the efforts of our green rollers and line markers Hillis, Ray, Len, Roger, Wayne and Arie. And the weather was absolutely magnificent.
A great number of supporters watched an incredibly close match – RCC are experienced bowlers and they edged ahead in the first half of the game. Towards the end, scores were level and the situation was very tense and exciting.
After 74 ends, with two rinks finished, RCC needed 6 shots off the final end. This was a big ask, and they were unable to do it.
Final result was 70-64. WELL DONE TEAM!
The result puts us into the Grand Final on March 9th, so we have earned a week off and at least the Runners Up flag (which is not our aim).
The other semi final was played at Balnarring between Sorrento and Balnarring. The home side was victorious 74-64 so they now play Rosebud Country Club next Saturday at Karingal to determine who plays us in the GF.
The venue for the Grand Final is West Rosebud. Game will start about 1pm. Come and watch and support us as we vie for the coveted pennant.
