After our qualifying round last week, today it was the Semi Finals of the Men’s Matchplay Championships.

Our first matches off were the C grade qualifiers, which saw Bevis Wilson up against Laird Gordon, and Club Captain Dean Burrows taking on Dallas Charters. Congratulations to Bevis and Dallas who won their matches relatively comfortably, 5/4 and 7/6 respectively.

In B Grade it was a much closer affair between both Chris Hosking and Bob Lovelace, and Mick Ponton and Sean Harrison. Both matches were neck and neck all day, and both matches went down to the wire, with Chris & Sean both winning on the 18th hole.

A grade was a pennant reunion of sorts when Aaron Grindal took on Rob Curic, and Neil Cavanagh came up against Peter Conroy. Neil was first to wrap things up with a 6/5 win, with Aaron back in the clubhouse victorious not long after, winning 4/3.

Our finals next week will be as follows –
C Grade – Bevis Wilson vs. Dallas Charters
B Grade – Chris Hosking vs. Sean Harrison
A Grade – Aaron Grindal vs. Neil Cavanagh

I am sure all six players would appreciate some support, so if you are interested feel free to come along and have a look on Saturday. Our A Grade final is over 36 holes, from 7, and our afternoon rounds will kick off around 12noon.
