Message from the President: Ross Taylor

Published on 27th September 2019 in Local News, Members News

I wish to advise Members that I will be resigning as President of The Flinders Golf Club at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting and Members Question Time on Friday 13th December 2019.

For many years Diana and I have been holidaying on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and in recent years the duration of our stay has been lengthening! We have now decided that we will make that location our primary residence. We intend to relocate to Noosa Heads in February 2020.

This is not a decision that we rushed into, but one that we have been considering over the last 12 months.

It is our intention to maintain a connection with Flinders and spend part of each year holidaying here. We will both, maintain our membership of the Club.

I want to thank Members for their support over the last four years during my tenure as President. It has been my honour to serve you and this great Club.

I would also like to thank the General Committee for their support and contribution during my time as President, I have had a great group of people to work with over my time in this role.

During my Presidency I have been fortunate to work with Jeff Smith as Treasurer and Phil Redley and Dean Burrows as our Captain, all of whom have been outstanding contributors to this Club and given me learned counsel, sound guidance and great support over my time as President. I thank them sincerely.

I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of our staff during my term – to Chris Poulton, Colin Morrison, Josh Shaw and Gavin Coyle and our fantastic staff, my heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for all your efforts and hard work over my time as President.

I hope Members feel that I have made a positive contribution to the Club over the last four years. That was my goal, to contribute and build upon the good work of my predecessors and at the same time enjoy myself. It has been for me a wonderful experience and one that I will treasure always.

The Secretary of the Club will be in contact with Members shortly in relation to the election of a new President.

Thank you again; it has been a great privilege.

Best Regards

Ross Taylor
