Message from the President: Course Closure March 28th

Published on 28th March 2020 in Course News, Golf News, Local and Member News, Local News, Members News, Social News

Dear Members

Sadly, I have to inform you that last night at 8pm, Golf Australia advised, based on the Victorian Dept of Health and Human Services directive, issued as part of the stage 2 restrictions, that golf courses had to close as soon as practicable. We will therefore be closing the course today at 5pm (Saturday March 28th), for the foreseeable future.

The General Committee and all the staff have worked tirelessly in an effort to keep the course open for members and to maintain employment for our staff and it is with regret that we are forced to take this action. We are currently putting together a mitigation plan for the care and maintenance of the course, with a limited number of green staff. In the event, there are even further restrictions, Golf Australia are currently lobbying state and federal authorities to ensure that green staff will be able to maintain the course.

The committee are meeting this afternoon to review arrangements for the course, employees and arrangements to access members’ kit if required.

We will provide an update as soon as we are able

Allan Shaw
President
