Ruby Nase Wrap Up

The opening to the women’s golfing calendar was played in very windy condition today. Despite the weather, it was lovely to see so many attend the event, the largest number we have seen for many years.

The 4BBB stableford competition was played today in honour of Miss Ruby Nase. Ruby was elected an Honorary Associate Life Member in 1966, in recognition of her long and efficient services to the Associates of the Club. For 30 consecutive years, she was Ladies’ Secretary and had been a member of the General Committee since 1951. In both capacities she was a tireless worker, with a special interest in the welfare and assimilation into the Club of newly joined Associate Members. And from the words of past Life Member, Vera Smith – “Throughout it all, she remained a good friend to us and, in years to come, we were eager to compete for the Ruby Nase Trophy, played every opening day in her honour.”

It is also of interest that Ruby Nase was the aunt of past President and Veteran Member the late David Jarman and we were delighted to welcome Joy Jarman to be with us today.

Congratulations to our winners on the day Susan Daniell and Megan Gleeson with a score of 48 points, ahead of runners up Katie Rothfield and Anne Grant on 44 points C/B.
