Our knitted blankets well received.

Western Port Community Support, Executive Officer Georgia Hourn has sent a lovely thank you letter in response to our Club knitters’ donation of several blankets which were made during Covid lockdown. The following is an extract from the letter and a copy of the full letter is posted on the whiteboard in the Women’s Locker room.

“The Board of Management, Volunteers and staff of the Western Port Community Support wish to thank you for your very kind donation of the beautifully knitted blankets which will be used for clients accessing our Housing and Homelessness Program.  We wish to thank the group for this donation and we greatly appreciate that you chose our agency as the recipient of this donation.”

Past News Story: January 23 2021

While our golf course was closed during the covid lockdown, a talented group of our members picked up their knitting needles and have made excellent use of their free time.

Thanks to Mary Hosking, Robyn Matthews, Lyn Knorr, Anne Grant, Peta Campbell, Mandy Milledge, Barb Plaistead, Michele Elsdon, Sue Gilbert and Lorraine Esipoff, whose joint efforts have helped to makes 7 beautiful, handmade, woolen blankets. These blankets will be donated to organisations supporting asylum seekers and the Westernport Community Support (WCS), a not for profit, community based organisation, in Hastings, supporting families and individuals residing in the Westernport region.

The women plan to keep knitting squares for blankets when time permits and welcome any new recruits. What a great way to utilise leftover wool.

Anyone interested in joining us should contact Mary Hosking or Mandy Milledge for guidance.
