Easter Tournament Wrap UpPublished on 7th April 2021 in Golf News, Local and Member News, Local News, Members News, Social News, Uncategorized
Over the last weekend, the Flinders Golf Club ran its 110th Easter Tournament, and associated events, and judging by the high numbers of entrants and people attending lunches and presentations in the clubhouse, this was once again a huge success.
There are not too many clubs where the same events have been organised and run for over 100 years, but our club is one of them, and in fact this Easter would have been the 111th Easter Tournament had it not been for the closedowns due to Covid-19 last year.
It was good to see so many of our own golfers doing very well over the weekend, but equally notable that, among the winners and place getters, were quite a number of golfers from other clubs, not just in Melbourne but also from interstate. Over 700 golfers played in the weekend events – a testament to the on-going popularity of Flinders at Easter.
It was also very satisfying to see how well the clubhouse was patronised throughout the weekend, and the management and staff should be congratulated on the presentation of the clubhouse, the menus on offer, and the courteous and efficient way in which they dealt with what were at times huge queues at the bar and the serving tables.
Thanks also to Josh and his team for their work at the front end, and also to all those members who shared hosting and presentation duties over such a long weekend.
There were many positive comments from players about the excellent condition of the course and greens, and as usual we can thank the high standards set by Colin Morison and his ground staff.
