Supplementary Conditions of Competition

 

1.   Entry 

  1. There will be one qualifying round of the Match Play Championship.

  2. Entries accompanied by the entry fee must be submitted to the Pro Shop prior to commencement of the qualifying round.

  3. The entry fee will be the same amount as, and in addition to, the daily competition fee applicable on the day of the qualifying round. Members wishing to compete concurrently in the daily competition of the qualifying round will be required to pay the usual daily competition fee in addition to the Men’s Match Play Championship entry fee.

  4. Member categories eligible to enter are 7 day, Veteran, Super Veteran, Life, Age based, Junior and Flexible.

  5. Please refer to FGC Syllabus / Calendar of Events published on the FGC website for relevant dates.

 

2.     Format

  1. The qualifying round is played under Stroke Play conditions with the leading eight gross scores in each grade qualifying for the finals under Match Play conditions.

  2. Players will be graded based on their GA handicap at the commencement of qualifying round 1 as follows:

         A Grade: GA handicap up to a maximum of 9.9.

         B Grade: GA handicap between 10 and 16.9.

        C Grade: GA handicap 17.0 and above.

     iii. In the Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals & the Finals, play must commence from the 1st Tee.

     iv. In each grade, Quarter Finals will be played over 18 holes elimination gross Match Play:

    • match 1:1st qualifier playing the 8th;

    • match 2: 2nd qualifier playing the 7th;

    • match 3: 3rd qualifier playing the 6th; & – match 4: 4th qualifier playing the 5th 

     v.  Semi Finals will be played over 18 holes elimination gross Match Play:

    • winner match 1 v winner match 4; &

    • winner match 2 v winner match 3

    vi.  Finals: The A grade Final will be contested over 36 holes Gross Match Play.The B and C grade Finals will each be contested over 18 holes Gross Match Play.

   vii. Players competing in the Semi Finals or Finals will not be permitted to compete concurrently in a Stroke Play event.

 

3. Rules

  1. The event will be conducted according to the Rules of Golf including the Flinders Golf Club (FGC) General Conditions of Competition and Local Rules. Where the word “Committee” is used in this or any of the Rules documents it will mean the Golf Committee of the FGC whose decisions will be final and binding on all competitors.

  2. Players (or their caddies) must not ride on any form of transportation in this event unless they are over 70 years of age or are able to produce a medical certificate acceptable to the Committee. Any approved transportation is for that purpose only and if weather protection shields are fitted, they must not be used. Penalty statement in FGC General Conditions of Competition applies.

  3. The event will be played from the Black plates unless otherwise indicated by the placement of movable Black tee markers on the day of play.

  4. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of the qualifying round, a count back will be conducted in accordance with the provisions set out in the FGC General Conditions of Competition for resolution of ties in Stroke Play competition. In the Match Play rounds, a match that ends all square will be played off hole by hole until one player wins a hole.

  5. The play-off will start on the 1st hole. If there is a need to suspend play, the provisions set out in the FGC General Conditions of Competition will apply.

 

General Information 

  1. Winners in each grade will receive an invitation to the annual Presentation Night where they will be presented with their award.

  2. Runners-up will receive a trophy voucher redeemable at the Pro Shop to the value of $25.

  3. In addition, the W.G.Darley Trophy will be awarded to the A grade player with the best gross score after qualifying Stroke Play round.
