Garry Disher lives on the Mornington Peninsula and has published over 50 books, including prize-winning and widely translated crime novels. His character Hirsch appears in the novels Bitter Wash Road, Peace and Consolation, all of which have won German and Australian best-crime-novel awards. The recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Australian Crime Writers Association, his latest title is The Way it is Now, a stand-alone crime novel, set mainly on the eastern beach towns of the Peninsula.
