Supplementary Conditions of Competition

1.     Entry

  1. The Club Championships are run concurrently with the daily competition and therefore the entry fee for each round is that of the daily competition.
  2. Entry is through the club’s online booking sheet.
  3. Member categories eligible to enter are 7 day, Veteran, Super Veteran, Life, Age based, Junior and Flexible.
  4. Any member must play at least 3 FGC competitions within the preceding twelve months to be eligible to win the Championship in any grade.

The Captain may waive this rule if there were extenuating circumstances beyond the Player’s control that contributed to this condition not being met.

2.   Format

  1. The Championship is a 54 Hole gross stroke event for A and B Grade players. It is to be played over three Saturday rounds as set out in the members’ calendar of events.  In the event that a B grade player has the best 3 round gross score, she will be the Club Champion and the player with the next best score in B Grade will be the B Grade Champion.
C Grade will play three rounds of stableford (except for players competing concurrently in the Junior Championship, where they will play gross stroke).
  2. Players will be graded according to their GA handicap at the commencement of round 1 as follows

A Grade: GA handicap up to a maximum of 16.5.

B Grade: GA handicap between 16.6 and 26.4.

C Grade: GA handicap 26.5 and above.

The Committee may adjust the above grading criteria if it considers the number of entries and/or the entrants handicaps render the above grading impractical.

iii. The format for C Grade Championship will be Stableford (except for players competing concurrently in the Junior Championship, where they will play gross stroke) with handicaps being those applicable upon entry at round one and this will apply for the subsequent two rounds.

NOTES for C Grade Championship:

– In round one, given the competition runs concurrently with the Monthly Medal, C Grade players have the option of recording a Stroke score to be eligible for the Monthly Medal and the Golf Committee will convert this to a Stableford score for the purposes of the C Grade Championship. In the event a C Grade player is disqualified from the daily stroke competition as a result of not completing one or more holes, their score will be converted to Stableford score and is still eligible towards the C Grade Championship. (Junior players will have their Round 2 & 3 gross scores converted to Stableford score for the purpose of the C Grade Championship)

– In rounds 2 & 3 C Grade players must play stableford format (except for Junior players, who will play gross stroke).

– In rounds 2 & 3 handicap for the purpose of the concurrent daily competition will be the daily handicap applicable on the day of competition – this is relevant for those players whose handicap changes after round one.

3.   Rules

  1. The event will be conducted according to the Rules of Golf including the Flinders Golf Club (FGC) General Conditions of Competition and Local Rules. Where the word “Committee” is used in this or any of the Rules documents it will mean the Golf Committee of the FGC whose decisions will be final and binding on all competitors.
  2. Players (or their caddies) must not ride on any form of transportation in this event unless they are over 70 years of age or are able to produce a medical certificate acceptable to the Committee. Any approved transportation is for that purpose only, and if weather protection shields are fitted, they must not be used. Penalty statement in FGC General Conditions of Competition applies.
  3. The event will be played from the red plates for the first two rounds, and blue plates for the final, (3rd) round unless otherwise indicated by the placement of movable above tee markers on the day of play.
  4. In the event of a tie in any Grade, the result will be decided in a three hole playoff over holes 1, 17, & 18. In the event of a further tie, the result will be decided in a sudden death play-off commencing at hole 1 and continuing as required over holes 17, 18, 1, 17, 18 etc. continuously until a winner is decided.
  5. Seeding will be introduced in the final round with leading players from A and B Grade being allocated tee times. Players outside of the seeding will be eligible to win, however it is the player’s responsibility to remain at the Club to be available for a play off if one is required.
  6. If there is a need to suspend play, the provisions set out in the FGC General Conditions of Competition will apply.

4.   General Information

  1. The Championship is an Honour Board event and the winner’s name shall be inscribed on the Honour Board positioned in the clubhouse.
  2. Winners of each grade will receive an invitation to the annual Presentation Night where they will be presented with their award.
