Supplementary Conditions of Competition

 

1. Entry

  1. The Foursomes Knockout is run concurrently with the club competition and therefore the entry fee is included in the daily entry fee.

  2. Entry is through the clubs online booking sheet.

  3. Members’ categories eligible to enter are 7 day, Veteran, Super Veteran, Life, Age based and Flexible.

 

2. Format

  1. Handicap Event.

  2. One qualifying round of Foursomes Stroke play; with eight pairs qualifying for Foursomes Matchplay. In the event of a tie, there is to be a countback for qualifying places.

 

3. Rules

  1. MAKING THE STROKE IN THE WRONG ORDER (Rule 22.3) Stroke Round: 2 stroke penalty, if not corrected DISQUALIFICATION;

  2. PLAY OUT OF TURN (Rule 22) Matchplay Round: Loss of Hole

  3. The Quarter, Semi and Final Matchplay knockout rounds are to be played on consecutive Saturdays after the qualifying round as listed in the members’ Calendar of Events. All matches are to be played until a result is reached.

    Matches: 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6 & 4 v 5.

  4. Play will be from the Red plates unless otherwise indicated by the placement of movable tee markers for the Qualifying round, Quarter and Semi Finals. Play will be from the Red Plates unless indicated by the placement of movable tee markers for the Final.

  5. The Final is to be played on the day scheduled in the clubs syllabus. A referee for this match is preferable but not mandatory.

  6. The event will be conducted according to the Rules of Golf including the Flinders Golf Club (FGC) General Conditions of Competition and Local Rules. Where the word “Committee” is used in this or any of the Rules documents it will mean the Golf Committee of the FGC whose decisions will be final and binding on all competitors.

  7. Players (or their caddies) must not ride on any form of transportation in this event unless they are over 70 years of age or are able to produce a medical certificate acceptable to the Committee. Any approved transportation is for that purpose, only, and if weather protection shields are fitted, they must not be used. Penalty statement in FGC General Conditions of Competition applies.

 

4. Handicaps

  1. The handicap used in the qualifying Foursomes Stroke round is ½ the aggregate handicap.

  2. The handicap used in match/stroke play is half the aggregate daily handicap of each pair, fraction of ½ to be rounded up.

  3. Strokes given are equal to the difference between the 2 team handicaps and applied according to the match/stroke Index.

 

5. General Information

  1. Dates for this event are set out in Members Calendar of Events.

  2. The event is a board event and the winner’s name shall be inscribed on the Foursomes Knockout Honour Board.

  3. The winners will receive an invitation to the Club Presentation Night.

  4. The Golf Committee reserves the right to amend the event and conditions of play as deemed necessary
