Supplementary Conditions of Competition

 

1. Entry

  1. The event is run concurrently with the daily competition and therefore entry can be made through the electronic booking system or through the pro shop.

  2. The entry fee is included in the standard competition entry fee of $6.

  3. Member categories eligible to enter are 7 day, 6 day, Veteran, Super Veteran, Life, Age based, and Flexible.

 

2. Format

  1. The monthly Sir James Barrett Midweek Medal is a separate Mens and Womens18 holes handicap stroke play event. The format for each day’s play will be stroke unless otherwise decided by the Committee.

  2. The event will usually be conducted on the third Thursday of each month.

  3. A competition to decide the Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists, for both Men and Women fields for the twelve months from January to December, inclusive, will be held on the third Thursday in January of the following year

  4. Exceptions to 2.ii.& 2.iii.above will be promulgated in the Club Calendar of Events.

 

3. Rules

  1. The event will be conducted according to the Rules of Golf including the Flinders Golf Club (FGC) General Conditions of Competition and Local Rules. Where the word “Committee” is used in this or any of the Rules documents it will mean the Golf Committee of the FGC whose decisions will be final and binding on all competitors.

  2. Handicaps are to be the Daily Handicap applicable to Men & Women under the WHS.

  3. For the Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists only, players (or their caddies) must not ride on any form of transportation unless they are over 70 years of age or are able to produce a medical certificate acceptable to the Committee. Any approved transportation is for that purpose only and if weather protection shields are fitted, they must not be used.Penalty statement in FGC General Conditions of Competition applies.

  4. The event will be played from the Blue plates (men) and Red plates(women) unless otherwise indicated by the placement of movable tee markers on the day of play.

  5. If, in any of the January to December medal competitions, there is a tie a count back will be conducted in accordance with the provisions set out in the FGC General Conditions of Competition for resolution of ties in Stroke Play competition.

  6. If, in the Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists competition, there is a tie a play off will be conducted concurrently with the subsequent Sir James Barrett Midweek Medal and if tied again a further play off will be conducted concurrently with the next subsequent Sir James Barrett Midweek Medal and so on (unless varied by the Golf Committee).Handicaps for the purpose of any play off for Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists will be the same handicaps as those used in the first round of Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists.

  7. If there is a need to suspend play, the provisions set out in the FGC General Conditions of Competition will apply.

 

4. General Information

  1. Monthly winners, both Men and Women will receive a Sir James Barrett Midweek Medal.

  2. The annual Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists is an Honour Board event, one board for both Men and Women.

  3. The Mens and Womens winner of the Sir James Barrett Medal of Medalists,will receive an invitation to the annual Presentation Night.
